Clinical description :
Fordyce's spots, also called Fordyce granules, are round, whitish or yellowish papules not exceeding 1 to 2 mm in diameter. They are found quite fortuitously in the oral cavity because they are asymptomatic.
These spots are generally located on the jugal mucosa, in the retromolar area, with an often symmetric distribution, as well as on the vermilion border of the lips (Kuffer et al., 2009; Szpirglas, Ben Slama, 1999). Papules are always clustered; when they are very close, they seem to form
patches but stretching the mucous membrane allows to separate them (fig. 1a, b, c and 2a, b).
Fordyce's spots can also be observed, although less frequently, on the oesophagus mucous membrane, the vulva and the penis.
