Post-and-core reconstructions with fiber posts and direct restorative core are a part of current treatment armamentarium. Composite resins with certain physical andmechanical properties close to those of dentin are used. Bonding of the post and coronal composite conforms to the principle of tissue conservation withminimal intervention and improves the strength of endodontically treated teeth. Continuing improvement of adhesive systems in their performance and clinical applications results in reliable and reproducible clinical protocols. These reconstructions constitute, within the limit of their indications, a real alternative to cast posts and cores.
