Trauma to gingival tissue and during preparation and prosthetic access can be avoided when cervical finish lines are located in a supragingival position. Prosthetic fabrication and establishment of marginal periodontium can also be facilitated. In the presence of intracrevicular margins, a use of protective cord provides clinical advantages (Robin et al., 1996) during different prosthetic steps. This approach protects marginal periodontium and restores dento-gingival esthetics. In the era of intra-oral digital imaging for "intraoral optical impression", access to and registration of intracrevicular finish lines remain an essential clinical step for fixed prosthesis design and fabrication.
