This epidemiological study was aimed to compare dft and DMFT in 6-year-old children according to the schooling zones with educational priority or not (ZEP or non-ZEP). It identified caries risk factors in these two zones. Material and method : The study was conducted in Nice. A stratified survey allowed establishing groups of children enrolled in CP (Grade 1 or 6-7 year-old children) in non-ZEP as compared with ZEP elementary schools. A clinical examination was performed and a questionnaire, completed for in every child. Various univariate analyses were used to compare the studied variables according to the schooling zones before performing a multivariate logistic regression model. Results : The dental health status of the children in ZEP was significantly worse in terms of dft (2.72 ± 2.97 versus 1.03 ± 2.06 ; p < 0.001) and DMFT (0.28 ± 0.74 versus 0.13 ± 0.49; p=0.001). The level of dental hygiene indicated by daily toothbrushing and dietary habits varied significantly according to these zones. Conclusion : Oral prevention programs adapted to each of these zones need to be planned.
