Non conventional transmissible agents (NCTA) are responsible for a group of diseases that, until now, are rare. Nevertheless, the follwing four facts call our attention : 1 : A large proportion of the population has been exposed to NCTA in the last two decades, 2 : The incubation period of these diseases is very long and could go up to several years or even decades, 3 : In some countries, its incidence has grown considerably, 4 : The agents are resistant to most conventional inactivating therapies. Interventional dentistry and stomatology are one of the most frequent invasive medical procedures. Several expert studies cite dentistry practice as a potential risk source of accidental contamination with NCTA. The present review objective is to consider the main transmission risk factors of non conventional transmissible agents in the stomatology field, with the aim of minimizing them.
