Sleep bruxism is a repetitive jaw-muscle activity characterised by clenching or grinding of the teeth and/or by bracing or thrusting of the mandible. Various tests such as self-assessment questionnaires, clinical examination, the portable recording devices or polysomnography allow to diagnose it.
The first objective of this article is to present their respective advantages and inconveniences, after briefly explaining their functioning. The second objective is to assess their validity through a review of the literature combining qualitative, quantitative and mixed studies.
