The basic life support principles are Airway, Breathing and Circulation (ABC). The airway is cleared by placing the patient in dorsal decubitus and tilting his head backwards. If breathing is absent, two rapid insufflations are performed and the carotid pulse is checked. If absent, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is inititiated
