Stomatodynia is characterized by oral paresthesia which may be:
· primary: stomatodynia diseases (SD) or,
· secondary to an organic lesion: stomatodynia symptoms (SS).

AFFECTED POPULATIONS
SDs are more frequently diagnosed in women (sex ratio 0,27). The average age for their occurrence is around 60 years old. SDs are very rare before 40. The prevalence of the disease increases with age (Fricain et al., 2008; Bergdahl et al., 1995). Anxiety and depression are twice to three times more frequent in patients suffering from SDs than in the control groups (Sardella et al., 2006).
