Class V was defined by the presence of a subsinus bone height lower than 2 mm associated with a bone thickness lower than 6mm. Besides, the position of the atrophied maxillary crest has shifted laterally compared to its antagonist. In this kind of clinical situation, the pre-implant preparation in the vertical and horizontal planes is essential so that the implant-supported rehabilitation can be carried out under the best conditions.
The clinical case described in this article illustrates the way we can handle this kind of case by combining two techniques: the lateral sinus augmentation with bovine hydroxyapatite to treat the reduced subsinus bone height associated with an onlay graft with an allogeneic material to compensate for the small thickness of the alveolar crest.
