Acute ethmoidal sinusitis with orbital complications

Acute ethmoidal sinusitis is an affection usually occur in small children following a rhinopharyngitis and spread to orbital complications. A 13 year old patient is admitted for a right orbital tumefaction associated with an ipsilateral odontalgia. Investigations reveal an acute ethmoidal sinusitis of dental origin from the tooth number 16. One week later, the evolution is favorable following antibiotic treatment and removal of the concerned tooth. This case is atypical due to its dental origin and its late age of occurence. The communication of facial cavities due to the infectious process is developped. Orbital and neurological complications can be alarming.
