Microcavities in pediatric odontology
Although dental caries remain the main paediatric odontology pathology, a new distribution and morphology of carious lesions is emerging. Silmultaneously, the development of techniques and impressive progress achieved by current materials have considerably improved the dental restoration process which now entails a greater preservation of dental tissues, thus resulting in less invasive cavities. Cavity preparation is more conservative, its design does not meet the well established criteria any more and mostly depends on the carious lesion's extent. Rotating instruments can be advantageously replaced by oscillating instruments, notably in case of new proximal cavities.
